Cellular Dysfunction

In this piece, I give expression to the frustrating and difficult experience of having cells backfire in the body. My particular illness is rooted in cellular dysfunction, in cells that cannot be seen but are acting in ways that are abnormal and debilitating. I imagine those cells look sickly and disordered, since that is the way they make me feel. The colours in this piece are garish and carnivalesque to illustrate the discomfort of this illness. The layers add to the feeling of disorientation, giving the piece a nauseous quality, but also a strange beauty as the body tries to make sense of itself and navigate its internal distress.
