Neurographic art is a gentle, visual practice that can help us process difficult emotions and reveal unconscious thought patterns and beliefs. Through free-flowing lines and circular shapes, we allow our feelings and unprocessed thoughts to express themselves in visual form. This meditative practice of expression has calming and restorative benefits for both body and mind.

Contemplative stitching is a mindful practice that uses the slow, repetitive rhythm of hand-sewing as a form of meditation. In this class we will learn a few easy stitches and settle into a quiet state, where we focus wholly on the tactile feel of the thread, needle, and fabric in our hands as a way to ground ourselves in the present moment and calm our mental commotion. Here we will prioritize the process of stitching itself rather than achieving a particular finished product, though we will undoubtedly have some beautiful stitch expressions to share.

Mindful collage is a self-exploratory practice of selecting found images, textured papers, and ephemera to create a layered representation of our current feelings, inner state of mind, or present situation. In this class, we will choose either an intentional approach (working through a specific problem, question, event, or issue in our lives) or an intuitive approach (working with our instincts and the images that immediately resonate without asking why or how) to our collage process, and conclude with some time to reflect on our experience and self-expression.

Working with alcohol inks is joyful experience of discovery as colours merge and separate to create exquisite and ethereal designs. Unlike other art medium where we have a lot of power to achieve a particular result, alcohol inks flow as they will and invite us to let go, submit to their process of movement, and release control of the outcome. In this meditative process of release, we can simply play, experiment, and delight in the surprising and beautiful artworks that emerge.
